A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Sandeep Sharma also directed that in case the Secretary (Excise and Taxation) and Secretary (Health) fail to file the reply, they would personally appear in the court.
The court was treating the letter as PIL.
The letter written by Kala Amb Industrial Estate Steel Association and addressed to the Acting Chief Justice alleged that some officers accused of taking bribe and booked for corruption were still on sensitive posts and named one officer, who had allegedly opened an account in the name of his wife for depositing the money earned through corrupt means.
The letter said that an officer who was suspended after a corruption case was registered was not only reinstated but also promoted and given a sensitive posting.
