A division bench of Chief Justice Dr D Y Chandrachud and Justice Rajan Roy passed the order on a PIL filed by a local lawyer Prince Lenin who sought a direction for a judicial probe into the incident and prohibit cane charge in future.
The probe would be conducted by the Additional District and Sessions Judge, Lucknow.
On behalf of the state government, it was assured that no further action would be taken in pursuance of FIRs lodged in connection with this incident as the matter was pending before the court.
On behalf of the state government, Additional Advocate General Bulbul Godiyal and chief standing counsel I P Singh informed the court that government had passed an order for shifting the sadar tehsil to a new place for one year as its old building was declared inhabitable and dangerous on August 4, 2010. The office was shifted accordingly.
The AAG further said that a meeting was organised by the district administration along with the lawyers representatives from Bar Associations on March 9.
To disperse the crowd, some force was used, the AAG said.
Some officials were injured in stone pelting, she informed the court.
Over 20 lawyers who were injured were present in the court.
