High alert sounded across country after terror attack

A high alert has been sounded across the country including Delhi, Haryana and Uttarakhand in the wake of fidayen spraying bullets on a moving bus and storming a police station in Gurdaspur district of Punjab today in which seven persons, including an SP, were killed.
In the national capital, Delhi police beefed up security at busy public places and markets in the wake of the terror attack.
"We have briefed our officers and men to be vigilant and watchful in the wake of Punjab incident and an alert is being maintained," PRO of Delhi Police Rajan Bhagat said.
Security was especially stepped up at railway stations in the national capital and deployment of policemen has been strengthened further. The number of policemen has also been increased at busy public places including markets and shopping malls.

In Punjab a senior police officer said that in view of the attack, "maximum alert" has been sounded across the state and security has been beefed up along its borders with neighbouring Jammu and Kashmir.
Additional police and other security personnel have been deployed around vital installations and key public places in the state, the officer added.

Security has been strengthened and alert sounded in Chandigarh and Haryana following the attack.
All police personnel have been put on high alert to thwart any attempt by terrorists or miscreants, Haryana's Additional Director General Police, Law and Order, Mohammad Akil said.
Security was beefed up across Uttarakhand in view of the attack in neighbouring Punjab.

Police patrolling around vital installations including railway stations and ISBTs as well as places of tourist interest like the banks of the Ganga in Haridwar and Rishikesh have been stepped up following the terrorist attack, Uttarakhand DGP B S Sidhu told reporters.
Intelligence agencies in Maharashtra have issued high alert in four prominent cities of the state.
"Intelligence agencies have sounded a high alert for Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad and Nagpur cities. Intelligence agencies have told us that there should be high security for a few days in places like malls, railway stations and cinema halls as there could be a possible terror attack in one of these cities in the coming days," minister of state for Home Ram Shinde told PTI here.

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said a red alert has been issued across the state following a terror attack in Gurudaspur district of Punjab.
