Security was beefed up at the airport, railway stations, bus stations, VIP residences, offices and other prime locations and vigilance increased at many parts of the city, city police commissioner Amit Garg said.
The police is in touch with officials of Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard and the Marine Police even as security was intensified at all important locations and establishments in the city along with night patrolling and maintaining strict vigil unclaimed baggage, the police official said.
Since Visakhapatnam is set host Independence Day Parade of the Andhra Pradesh state government, the police have intensified vehicle checks at all places, the police official said.
