Former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who today began his second year as Cricket Association of Bengal joint secretary, said he would "get involved" with the state team but did not disclose in what capacity.
"Our main focus is to improve the standard of cricket as we feel our (senior) team has not done well (in Ranji Trophy). I'll remain involved but in what capacity that we will see," Ganguly said.
Asked about the appointment of Bengal's coach for the upcoming season, he said: "The announcement will be done in the next three-four days... Now that the AGM is over we will have to take a decision on the appointment soon as the season will start soon."
There had been reports that Ganguly might take up a top post like that of an adviser to the senior team as a fallout of the Ranji team's continued flop show.
Ganguly though rubbished the rumour: "It's all speculation. We cannot comment without discussing the matter with the president."
Ganguly is a member of the BCCI's cricket advisory committee responsible to pick the Indian coach and also holds stake in the Indian Super League football franchise Atletico de Kolakta.
The left-handed batsman has also become a cricket commentator beside hosting a popular TV reality show.
