Several Congress MLAs and senior leaders are in Delhi waiting for a final decision of the high command on the much debated organisational changes ahead of assembly polls, which are just two months away, party sources said.
Following the confusion over the issue, the party today called off the protest to gherao the state assembly on the first day of monsoon session set to start from August 27.
In the past few days, there were rumours of former minister Gangu Ram and former Union minister V B Singh taking over the charge of HPCC chief, they said.
HPCC chief Kaul Singh Thakur today denied reports about his resignation.
Clarifying doubts over the issue, Singh told reporters, "I have neither resigned nor asked by the party high command to step down."
V B Singh, Thakur and leader of opposition in state assembly Vidya Stokes are currently in Delhi.
