Himachal Pradesh experiences heavy rains

Several areas of Himachal Pradesh today experienced heavy rains as the monsoon remained active in the state with most rivers and tributaries in the lower hills of Kangra and Una being flooded, the local MeT office said.
The lower hills of the state reeled under sultry heat as humidity increased, even as day temperatures decreased by three to four degrees Celsius.
The MeT has warned of heavy to very heavy in rains at isolated places in the mid and lower hills of Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Sirmaur, Shimla, Solan, Kullu, Hamirpur, Una and Bilaspur in the next 24 hours and predicted wet spell in the region till July 16.

Bangana which received 96 mm of rains in the past 24 hours was the wettest in the region followed by Palampur with 95 mm, Una 69 mm, Arki 64 mm, Baijnath 56 mm, Dehra Gopipur 46 mm, Kandaghat 42 mm, Shimla 35 mm, Solan 30 mm, Gohar and Ghamroor 40 mm each, Aghar 39 mm, Pachhad 36 mm, Nadaun-35 mm and Paonta Sahib 31 mm.
Hamirpur received 28 mm, Bharwain 27 mm, Mehre and Amb 20 mm each, Guler 19 mm, Dharamshala 17 mm, Dharmpur 13 mm, Kahu 12 mm, Rajgarh and Sarhan 11 mm each, Jhandutta and Bhoranj10 mm each.

The maximum temperatures decreased by three to four degrees and Bhuntar recorded a high of 31.8 degrees Celsius.

Una recorded 30 degrees Celsius, Kangra 28.5 degrees Celsius, Dharamshala 27.8 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar 26.7 degrees Celsius, Nahan 25.4 degrees Celsius, Solan 24 degrees Celsius, Kalpa 22 degrees Celsius and Shimla 19.7 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature also decreased by a few notches and Mashobra in the outskirts of the state capital was the coldest at night recording a low of 13.5 degrees Celsius.
Manali and Kalpa recorded 15 degrees Celsius each, Keylong 16.9 degrees Celsius while the major tourist attractions of Shimla and Dharamshala recorded a minimum temperature at 17.4 and 18.8 degrees Celsius respectively.
