"The reopening of Kendadih Copper mine at Ghatsila in Jharkhand, which was lying closed since 2000 due to economic reasons, is expected to add in excess Rs 60 crore in revenue a year from FY'19," Hindustan Copper chairman and managing director Santosh Sharma told PTI.
He said the company is focused on Jharkhand operations and efforts are on for a full-fledged operations for Surda copper mine which was abandoned by India Resources Ltd (IRL) -- the mining contractor -- terminated the contract to operate the mine with effect from June this year.
Meanwhile, Sharma said the mine (after completion of mine development activities till this year) is expected to produce 2.25 lakhs metric tonnes of copper ore annually.
