HLC to probe October 31 firing incident

Nagaland government has constituted a four member High Level Committee (HLC) to probe into the firing incident which occurred on October 31 at Benreu Village of Peren District, officials said today.
In the incident, Constable Moakumzuk Jamir of 3rd NAP escorting Chief Minister of Nagaland during the celebration of Langsimngyi Festival at Benreu Village was killed.
The HLC is headed by Special Secretary, Home L Singsit as Chairman and DIG (Range) Liremo as Member Secretary while the members are Joint Commissioner Vikiyie Kenye, and Joint Secretary, Justice & Law Ngamjok Konyak.
The committee would enquire into the causes and circumstances leading to the incident. It would also make recommendations as to how such incidents can be avoided in future.
The Committee, constituted on November has been asked to submit its report to the State Government within 30 days.
