Jharkhand Chief Secretary Sudhir Tripathi has directed the State Tobacco Control Cell to honour people and the institutions working on tobacco control, an official release said.
Tripathi also suggested incolving more people and institutions in the tobacco control drive.
He was speaking at a meeting of State Tobacco Control Coordination Committee here yesterday.
A guide on Tobacco Control Act 2003 was also released on the occasion, the release said.
The chief secretary directed the State Tobacco Control Cell to expedite tobacco control measures and stressed on the adoption of steps to discourage tobacco cultivation, tobacco-based product makers and its purchase-sales.
The Information and Public Relations Department was directed to spread awareness on tobacco control to the Panchayat level, the release said.
