Cautioning people against forces bent on dividing the country on caste and religion, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said former prime minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated by the same people.
Addressing a gathering at 'Mega Blood Donation Camp' organised on the occasion of 29th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi here today, he said, "Indira Gandhi was assassinated by divisive forces which wanted to divide the nation on the basis of caste and religion."
Gandhi wanted the country to remain firm and united, he said, and urged the people to follow the path shown by her.
"Indira Gandhi had always remained concerned about Haryana as she knew that the state had a huge potential for development," he said.
