Hooda concerned over drought-like situation

With Haryana receiving 60 per cent less rain this year, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today reviewed the prevailing drought-like situation in the state at a high-level meeting here.
He directed senior officers of concerned departments to submit their reports on the situation by tomorrow evening to the Revenue department, an official release said.
Based on their reports, a memorandum would be sent to the Central government for further action, it said.
Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture, Roshan Lal apprised Hooda about percentage of less rainfall recorded in various districts.
He said 74 per cent less rainfall was registered in Fatehabad, 77 per cent in Hisar, 72 in Jind, 71 in Panchkula, 82 in Ambala and 72 per cent in Sonepat, the release said.

The meeting was told that less rainfall was recorded in Haryana in 2009 and '12 and a Central team had visited the state to assess the situation.
In 2009, the Centre had provided financial assistance of Rs 400 crore to Haryana.
