Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol are Bollywood's most loved on-screen pair and the superstar, who is teaming with the actress for "Dilwale", hopes they can recreate their magic for the Rohit Shetty film.
The 49-year-old actor and Kajol have starred together in hits like "Baazigar", "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge", "Karan Arjun", "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" and "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham". The two were last seen together on-screen in Karan Johar's "My Name Is Khan" in 2010.
"It is very exciting to be back with Kajol. I haven't had the time to thank her to be a part of the film. We will start the film in June hopefully. It is good to work with Rohit.
"I have not worked with Kajol after 'My Name Is Khan'. It is always exciting to work with her. She is my warmest, closest friend. We have done really nice cinema together. I hope we can recreate that for 'Dilwale' as well," Shah Rukh told reporters here last night.
Young actors Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon have also been signed for "Dilwale".
Shah Rukh has just wrapped up shooting Maneesh Sharma's "Fan". The "Happy New Year" star is reported to be playing twin role in the film- one of a reigning superstar and the other of a fan.
The actor, however, said that the story of "Fan" is more than just superstardom and being on the other side of it.
"Fan is a very different story. I am not sure how much I can divulge. I have finished it. It is very interesting. I think it has an amazing teaching. It teaches us that somewhere down the line to achieve what you have achieved in life you need to find your own identity.
"I think that is the greatest message I can give through the film. It was very difficult to shoot. It was very tiring but extremely satisfying. Hopefully people will like my work. Personally I want my family to like it because it is very different form what I have done so far. Maneesh has done a great job," Shah Rukh said.
Besides "Fan" and "Dilwale", Shah Rukh will also star in Rahul Dholakia's "Raees".
