"We believe that this auction will significantly speed up rollout of mobile broadband in the country, besides adding new technologies to augment capacities to cater to the rapidly rising demand for data services," Bharti Infratel MD and CEO D S Rawat said.
He added that it continues to support telecom operators in rollout of 3G and 4G networks across the country.
Bank of America Merrill Lynch in a report said with telcos buying more spectrum, it expects tower companies like Bharti Infratel to also benefit with more deployment.
India's biggest auction of telecom spectrum ended on a whimper yesterday with just Rs 65,789 crore of bids coming in over five days against an expectation of Rs 5.6 lakh crore as operators stayed away from the expensive 700 MHz band.
UK-based Vodafone's India unit was the most aggressive, taking home Rs 20,280 crore worth of spectrum. Bharti Airtel, the nation's biggest telecom company, bought Rs 14,244 crore worth of spectrum, while Idea Cellular put in Rs 12,798 crore of bids.
