Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J P Nadda today hailed the Himachal budget for 2018-19 as "all-round development-oriented" and said it was a reflection of the prime minister's vision of "sabka saath sabka vikas".
"The visionary and pragmatic budget has schemes for the poor, farmers, youth and women which would definitely lead to an all-round development of the hilly state and remove the failings of the previous government, ushering in a new era," Nadda said in a statement.
Keeping inclusive development in mind, the chief minister has given ample focus to doubling the income of farmers, giving priority to youth and women, and providing other basic amenities, including healthcare for rural population, employment and skill development for youth, he said, adding that the budget would accelerate growth.
The minister expressed satisfaction that the budget also demonstrated a commitment of the government to implement the National Health Protection Scheme (NHPS).
The NHPS is one of the largest public health schemes announced under the Ayushman Bharat programme in the General Budget 2018-19, he added.
The government's intention to provide transparent, affordable and people-friendly governance is clearly reflected in this budget as the "Vidhayak Khsetra Vikas Nidhi Yojana" and other discretionary grants were increased and no fresh tax imposed, Nadda added.
