HP govt takes over under-construction ESIC hospital in Mandi

A memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Himachal Pradesh government and Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) for taking over the ESIC Medical College coming up at Ner Chowk in Mandi district by the state, clearing the decks for making the college functional from 2017-18.
The MoU for transfer of the infrastructure built by ESIC to the state government was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh,Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur and Panchayati Raj Minister Anil Sharma.
The MoU was signed byPrincipal Secretary (Health) Prabodh Saxena on behalf of the state government and ESIC Regional Director Ashok Chandra and Senior State Medical Commissioner, ESIC, Gunjan Gupta on behalf of ESIC.

The ESIC hospital has been constructed at a total cost of Rs 924.82 crore which has been leased out to the state government for 99 years.
The state government has to refund a sum of Rs 285.23 crore in five annual instalments. The payment will begin two years after the start of the college with 100 MBBS seats.
