Haryana Women and Child Development Minister Kavita Jain has appealed to various government, non-government, private and voluntary institutions and people of the state for giving maximum donation in the state 'Kanya Kosh' fund.

'Kanya Kosh' is a fund meant for educational and nutritional development of girls.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had announced setting up of this fund on the occasion of International Women's Day on March 8, 2015, she said.

Jain said that so far, Rs 69.54 lakh was deposited in the fund.

"A donation being given in this Kosh gets income tax benefit under the Income Tax 1961, Section 80G (5)," she said in an official release here.

Jain said that a bank account in the name of 'Kanya Kosh' was opened in the Bank of India, where all people or institutions desirous to give donation could deposit the amount.

She said that under the Haryana Kanya Kosh Society, women are given financial assistance in various areas, which include sponsorship of women players for games and risky jobs, for marriage of poor, needy and orphan girls, among others.

Jain said that a district-level committee was constituted under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner in every district where needy women or girls could give their application for taking the benefit of the scheme.
