The Cyberabad police here today carried out searches at the offices of six private engineering colleges, accused of trying to mislead the inspection teams of city-based Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU).
Following a complaint filed by JNTU registrar N V Ramana Rao, police teams conducted searches after registering cases of cheating and seized registers and other documents to verify if they had regular staffs, inspector T Ravinder of Ghatkesar police station said.
According to the complaint, these colleges hired teaching and other staff temporarily only to satisfy the JNTU's condition that they must have a regular staff for being eligible for annual renewal of affiliation from the varsity.
