The company had sold 56,856 units in the same month last year, it said in a statement.
In the domestic market, Hyundai sold 36,205 units last month as compared to 32,102 units in May 2013, up 12.8%.

Commenting on the sales performance, HMIL Senior Vice-President (Sales and Marketing) Rakesh Srivastava said Hyundai, with a volume of 36,205 units, has grown by 12.8% over last year which is in line with this year's objective to grow in market share and volume.
"The phenomenal success of Xcent, Grand and Santa Fe increased volumes creating positive momentum. We foresee to maintain this positive trend by strengthening our product portfolio and improving channel efficiencies," he added.
