"I am as Goan as anybody else. I have been living here for 35 years. I have my business here," Mody told reporters today.
After Mody bought the 65 per cent stake, earlier jointly held by Dattaraj Salgaocar and Shrinivas Dempo in the FC Goa football team which is part of the Indian Super League, some MLAs had demanded that only Goans should own stake in the FC Goa team.
"I love to be here. I love Goa. I am as Goan as anybody else," he said.
"The club is 100 per cent of Goans," he said, adding that he would never mix with his casino business in Goa with the club.
Mody's group runs three offshore casino vessels in the coastal state.
