Essaying the role of a police investigator in 'Abar Shabor', actor Saswata Chatterjee says unlike amateur sleuths on celluloid, his character is more derived from real life.
"You can't equate Shabor Dasgupta with other detective thrillers. He is more akin to the real life investigator from the special branch of police.
"And I have based my portrayal on observartions and my understanding of the Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay novel," the detective assistant Ajit in Anjan Dutta's just released film told PTI here.
Saswata, who says he is tired of being called Bob Biswas of the Kahaani fame, retorts the director Arindam Sil may better be asked if his role as police investigator was shades different from his portrayals as para don in a string of recent movies and mark a departure.
The versatile actor, having essayed Ritwik Ghatak's screen avatar in 'Meghe Dhaka Tara' and 'Goynar Baksho', feels every character is a journey into the self.
"Saswata himself perhaps doesn't know what incredible performance he has delivered. Abar Shabor is going to be another milestone in his career," Arindam, a veteran actor and executive prooducer of many contemporary flicks, having made directorial debut in Abarto, said.
Percussionist Bickram Ghosh, having composed the musical scores of the thriller, said there was a grungy, metallic, eletronic soundscape to the two tracks imparting an Hitchcockian feel.
Popular singer Ujjaini, having delivered one peppy number in the film, said this was her second stint with a music director like Bickram Ghosh after 'Abarto' which was more romantic and humane unlike the eerie feel in Abar Shabor.
