The first bench, comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice T S Sivgnanam, before which an affidavit was filed on behalf of Sagayam, said police and other authorities should ensure that the information is furnished as sought by him in the the questionnaire within next two weeks.
Earlier, the bench headed by the CJ had granted eight weeks of time to Sagayam on Dec 22 2014 to submit a report on illegal mining in the District of Madurai.
The ED had informed the court that a case had been registered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act against two firms.
Sagayam as the then District Collector of Madurai had in 2011 pegged loss to the state exchequer due to illegal granite mining at Rs 16,000 crores over the years.
