Police got a tip-off about a brothel being run in Bhajanpura main market after which a raid was carried out at the premises and the girls aged around 16-17 years were rescued on June 6. Owner of the brothel, a woman, was also arrested.

"The accused would entice and lure minors and poor girls on the pretext of marriage, job and other temptations. Once brought to NCR, they would sell the girls into brothels.
"It was further revealed that more girls from the rural areas of West Bengal have been sold in the NCR and Meerut and probe is on to locate them," said a senior police official.
