Illegal timber from National Park seized

A truck laden with timber illegally felled from Nameri National Park was seized today in Assam's Sonitpur district, the police said.
The truck, with timber worth more than Rs 10 lakh, was seized from Kendukuri area under Bebejia Police outpost near here.
Three persons in the truck, including the driver, however, managed to escape, the police said.
The timber was suspected to be taken out of the state.
The truck was handed over to the forest department and the police has launched a search operation to nab all the three persons.
