Illegally stored drug seized, one arrested

The Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) has seized around 5000 ampules of illegally stored buprenorphine drug from Kaliachak area in Malda district and arrested one person, NCB officials said today.

Buprenorphine is generally prescribed as a pain killer but it is also classified as narcotic.

NCB officials raided a house at Kaliachak last night following a tip off and seized 4971 ampules of buprenorphine, totalling 9.94 litre of the drug which was worth Rs 5 lakh and stored there illegally.

Officials said one person was arrested.
