India bag all four gold on offer in weightlifting

India grabbed all four gold medals on offer today in yet another overwhelmingly dominating performance in weightlifting in the 12th South Asian Games here today.
Victor Abilash Christopher (men's 105kg), Pardeep (men's 94kg), Vikas Thakur (men's 85kg) and Kavita Devi (women's 75kg) won a gold each as the home lifters ran away with all the honours.
In the first event of the day, Kavita Devi had a total lift of 210kg (92kg+122 kg) to bag the gold to her kitty. Wickeramasinghe Mudiyan of Sri Lanka won the silver with a total lift of 160kg (70+90), while Firoga Parvin of Bangladesh won the bronze with a total effort of 148kg (70+78).

Thakur got the second gold for India as he lifted 300kg in total to finish way ahead of Mohammed Tahir of Pakistan (total 278kg) and Samarasekara Ranathunga of Sri Lanka (total 265kg).
In men's 94kg event, trailing by 5kg in snatch behind his Pakistani rival, Pardeep gave a hugely improved effort in the clean and jerk to win the gold with a total lift of 331kg (145kg+186kg).
Usmaan Amjad Rathore of Pakistan won the silver with a total lift of 322kg (150+172). Thusitha Karunarathna Chandrthilake of Sri Lanka won the bronze medal with 293kg (125+168).
India ended the day with the gold from Christopher, who lifted 317kg to win gold medal, easily beating Sri Lankan Shanaka Madusanka Peters by 17kg.

With the four gold today, India have so far won 11 gold medals in weightlifting (6 in men and 5 women).
