Mukherjee has extended his greetings and felicitations to Rajkeswar Purryag, President of Mauritius on the eve of its Independence Day.
"India and Mauritius enjoy a deep and special relationship based on our historical ties of kinship and shared cultural heritage. I am confident that our close bonds will continue to strengthen in the years ahead to the mutual benefit of our peoples," Mukherjee said in his message.
He said the day is not only significant in the history of the political struggle for freedom of both the countries but also symbolises how India and Mauritius uphold the values of democracy.
