The producer of popular animated show 'The Simpsons' has described India as one of the few Asian countries to get the show's wit and humour.
Al Jean, the current producer of the show, said the series had some trouble breaking into other markets of the region like Japan.
"Countries like India where English is a little stronger, it tends to be more popular," he told reporters here during a promotional tour for the latest series of the show which aired on Star World Premiere in India this week.
"A lot of our animation is done in Korea so they are big fans of our work too.
"In Asia, the one country we have had a little trouble reaching is Japan because they have their own strong style of animation," he added.
The 53-year-old showrunner of the Emmy Award winning programme has had to contend with global fan reaction to the killing of Krusty the Clown's father, Rabbi Hyman Krustofski as part of the premiere of the 26th series.
"It was never going to be someone like Homer or Lisa. I would kill myself first," he said.
In reference to upcoming shows, Al Jean confirmed that the Indian immigrant character of Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, voiced by Hank Azaria, will be a key part of the cast.
The Kwik-E-Mart operator in the fictional 'Simpsons' town of Springfield will be seen in a major storyline over Christmas.
"It is a tribute to the conception of the show that there is no end in sight.
"We are hoping for at least two more or even four more seasons," he added.
