An Indian national was arrested from Tribhuvan International Airport here Monday for allegedly smuggling nearly half-a-kilogram of gold into the country.
Police arrested Rajesh Govinda Bhai Sagarparia as soon as he landed at Kathmandu airport from Dubai in the afternoon, officials said.
During a security check, a police team stationed at the airport arrested Sagarparia for bringing a gold bracelet and two gold chains, with a combined weight of 417 gram, from Dubai without paying customs duty, sources in the Nepal Police headquarters said.
The police have taken Sagarparia into custody and have initiated further investigation into the matter.
