While Sundargarh became the hottest place in the state, the coal town of Talcher sizzled at 44.6 degree C, the Meteorological centre said.
Titlagarh, also in the western region, recorded a maximum temperature of 44 degree Celsius, followed by 43.2 degree C at Bhawanipatna, 42.3 degree C at Jharsuguda, 42.1 degree C at Angul, 41 degree C at Bolangir and 40.8 degree C at Sonepur, it said.
A total of 12 places in the state recorded atmospheric temperature above 40 degree Celsius out of which six stations registered temperature beyond 42 degree C.
A report from the Special Relief Commissioner's (SRC) office said the sunstroke toll was unchanged at 18 and the number of alleged deaths due to heat related incidents too remained at 181.
