Gopalan (86) leaves behind two daughters and son P K Anil Kumar who is the Kalpetta block panchayat president.
Gopalan was admitted to the hospital for age related ailments a few days ago and died early this morning.
He had been leading INTUC in the state for many years.
Gopalan was also Chairman of the State Minimum Wages Advisory Committee and a member of the Plantation Labour Committee.
The body was kept at his residence at Meppadi for the people to pay their last respects and it was cremated later in the evening.
