School in central China have come up with a smarter way to catch any cheats during examinations by deploying an invigilating drone above the exam hall.
The new anti-cheating technology will be used in Luoyang city during a highly intense two-day 'gaokao' university entrance exams, which is given by more than nine million teenagers across the country every year.
The highly-competitive and gruelling university entrance exams starts on June 7.
The particular drones being used are customised for the task. They fly about 500 meters above the exam room and can rotate 360 degrees to scan, to stop children getting information from any hidden earpiece, reported state-run People's Daily Online.
"We also advise those people with ulterior motives, as early as possible to give up trying to cheat in examinations and get ideas via radio means," Zeng Ying Yong, Secretary Luoyang Radio Authority said.
Staff within the exam rooms are connected to the drone. It will inform them of any signal being emitted by those who might wish to use nefarious means, it reported.
The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) which also has an auto-landing function, can hover for around 30 minutes.
Teens caught cheating are usually suspended from taking the exam for three years.
