Police here today claimed to have busted an IPL betting racket with the arrest of seven persons who were caught with Rs seven lakh in cash and 10 mobile phones.
The arrests took place during two raids conducted in Rupaspur police station area of the city, upon a tip-off that a group of anti-social elements there were involved in running an illegal betting racket, Senior Superintendent of Police, Patna, Manu Maharaj said.
Among those arrested were the kingpin Santosh Kumar, a namesake who worked for him and other associates - Rajiv Kumar, Rahul Kumar, Nishant Kumar and Om Prakash Kumar, the SSP said.
The racket used to entertain betting from different parts of the country on ongoing Indian Premier league (IPL) over phones.
