IRB Infra commissions Kaithal-R'sthan border highway project

Highways developer IRB Infrastructure today said it has commissioned its Kaithal- Rajasthan Border four laning highway project, being built at a cost of Rs 2,290 crore.
"Kaithal Tollway Pvt Ltd (KTPL), the Special Purpose Vehicle of ... IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd, has commissioned its Kaithal-Rajasthan Border four laning highway project.... With this, the project is now opened for vehicular traffic with effect from midnight September 8, 2017," the company said in a statement.
The 166.26 km project on NH 65, the eighth scheme in IRB Infra's BOT (build, operate, transfer) portfolio, is the largest by any private highway infrastructure developer being built at a cost of Rs 2,290 crore including a viability gap funding of Rs 234 crore.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had awarded the project to IRB Infra in 2014.
IRB Infra chairman and managing director Virendra D Mhaiskar said, "We are happy to throw the project open for commuters. Hope it would bring the world class and most safe commuting experience of the highway infrastructure in India."
The project pertained to conversion of two lane highway into four-lanes and comprises 20.90 km service road, 18 pedestrian underpasses, 5 vehicular underpasses, 5 flyovers, 13 small bridges, 71 intersections, 241 culverts and one railway over bridge.
The company said COD (commercial operation date) has been achieved in line with provisional certification issued by the Authority, as SPV satisfactorily completed 144 km, i.E., 87 per cent construction work, four months ahead of schedule.
The Kaithal - Rajasthan stretch of 166 km is part of NH- 65, which starts from Ambala in Haryana and ends at Pali in Rajasthan.
The stretch passes through four districts of Haryana -- Kaithal, Jind, Hissar and Bhiwani.
IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd (IRB) is one of the largest private roads and highways infrastructure developers in the country.
