Irregularities in Gosikhurd Project: Officials charge-sheeted

Officials responsible for the irregularities in execution of the Gosikhurd National Project in Maharashtra have been charge-sheeted and departmental enquiry is in progress, Government told Lok Sabha today.
Minister of State for Water Resources Sanwar Lal Jat, in reply to a question, said some irregularities have been observed during the execution of this project. The state government had appointed two independent enquiry committees for an investigation into the matter.
"The officers responsible have been charge-sheeted and the department enquiry is in progress. Necessary corrective measures regarding civil works, concrete-lining of Left Bank Canal are being undertaken on a priority basis," he said.
As expenditure of Rs 8,450.17 crore has been incurred on the project up to March, 2015, he said while noting that the original cost of the project was Rs 372.22 crore and revised cost as per 2007-08 prices is Rs 7,777.85 crore.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the Maharashtra Government for Gosikhurd National Project for an amount of Rs 4,458.87 crore. Central Assistance for Rs 2,987.94 crore has been provided to the Maharashtra Government up to 2014-15, the Minister said.
