Islamist group claims responsibility for assassination bid

An Islamist terror group today claimed responsibility for the attack on a senior Egyptian judicial official who survived an assassination bid when a car bomb went off near his house.
The extremist terrorist group 'Sawaed Masr - Hasam' claimed responsibility of the attack and published a number of photos showing their monitoring of security around the house of General Prosecuters assistant Zakaria Abdel Aziz. The photos also showed the car in which they planted the bomb in.
The attack took place yesterday when a car bomb exploded in New Cairo, eastern suburb of Cairo, injuring two civilians and a policeman, security officials said.

The explosion took place only 200 meters from the vila of General Prosecuters assistant Zakaria Abdel Aziz, who was not harmed in the attack.
In the statement published on a website belonging to Hasam, the group describes the attack as "justice against every unjust judge who sentences hundreds or thousands of people to death or life in prison for no guilt or crime".
The group rationalised their failed assassination attempt saying that the senior judge was not hurt due to the "large portion of money the government pay to buy armoured vehicles".

The group also added that the attack targeted the judge's motorcade near his home despite the high security.

The group ended their statement by threatening to "avenge from unjust and tyrants" from army and police personnel, media people and judges.
Egypt has witnessed a series of terrorist attacks that targeted policemen, judges and military personnel in different parts of the country.
The attacks started after the 2011 revolution that toppled former president Hosni Mubarak and increased after the removal of Islamist ex-president Mohamed Morsi following massive protests against him.
Yesterday's assassination attempt was the fifth for Hasam, a group which is believed to be affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group, as it claimed responsibility of previous attacks like attack on Ali Gomaa, the former Grand Mufti of Egypt, last August, and killed a number of police personnel in different governorates.
