Israeli PM to send message to Modi in Hindi, says Fadnavis

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to send a message to his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in Hindi, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said here today.
Fadnavis, who returned here today after a four-day visit to Israel, recalled his meeting with Netanyahu during an interview to PTI.
"The Israel PM told me: When I got elected, Modi sent me a congratulatory letter in Hebrew. He is the only world leader who has sent me the letter in Hebrew," Fadnavis said.
"Netanyahu looked very happy. He said he will reply to the letter in Hindi. He told me that they are very keen to have Modi visit Israel," Fadnavis said.

After Netanyahu's victory last month, Modi had tweeted in Hebrew: "Mazel tov, my friend Bibi @Netanyahu. I remember our meeting in New York last September warmly".
His tweets were also followed up with an English translation, congratulating Prime Minister Netanyahu on the huge election win of his Likud party.

"Netanyahu expressed special thanks to Modi for India's rescue and relief work after the Nepal earthquake," he said.
"The Israeli PM is very keen to co-operate with India," he said.
"Their national security advisor was also present at the meeting. He said, if India is to be engaged, then there should be interactions with the states," Fadnavis said.
