Having recently approved 659 new administrative units in the state, Jammu and Kashmir government now requires nearly Rs 1557 crore annually for creation of requisite infrastructure for the newly-created administrative units.
Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Ajaz Ahmed Khan today informed the state Assembly that nearly Rs 1557 crore would be required annually for creation of requisite infrastructure for new administrative units in the state, adding that government would strive ensure to arrange adequate funds for the purpose.
He said the government has already ordered to constitute an expert committee to look into the demands for creation of more administrative units in left out areas of the state.
Replying to a clubbed question by G M Saroori, Jagdish Raj Spolia and Yashpual Kundal in the House, the Minister said while recommending creation of new administrative units, both the Mushtaq Ganai Committee as well as Cabinet Sub Committee have taken in consideration the topography, terrain, accessibility, distance and population density while doing so.
He said the recommendations made by the said committees have already been sent to the respective Deputy Commissioners for determining the Geographical boundaries of the newly proposed units.
The Minister said that the Cabinet Sub Committee has recommended the adoption of the recommendations made by the Mushtaq Ganai Committee and has also proposed additional units, which include sub division for Ramnagar, Tehsil status for Dudu-Basantgarh, Niabats for Ghordi and Kulwanta and CD blocks for Sumb, Khoon, Chanunta and Parly Dhar HQ at Rang.
He said, however, no decision has so far been taken for granting Tehsil status to Purmandal, because Bari Brahmna has already been proposed by the Cabinet Sub Committees, as a Tehsil, which falls in the same location.
The Minister said creation of any new district was not within the mandate of either of the committees constituted for the purpose. He said the committee has already recommended Tehsil status to Mahanpur, adding that recommendations made by the Cabinet Sub Committee have been approved by the state Cabinet.
The members Ashok Kumar, A R Veeri, M Y Tarigami, Syed Bashir Ahmed, Peerzada Mansoor, Rafiq Hussain Khan, Hakim Mohammad Yasin, Ashwani Sharma, Nizam-ud-Din Bhat, Advocate Abdul Haq, Balwant Singh Mankotia and Aijaz Ahmed Jan raised supplementary questions and demanded creation of administrative units in left over uncovered areas of their constituencies.
