A decision in this regard was taken at a cabinet meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah yesterday, an official spokesman said.
He said the cabinet approved the recommendations made by the high power committee headed by the Chief Secretary for examining the proposals of different departments regarding creation of posts and necessary infrastructure for the new administrative units.
The Cabinet approved the creation of 5860 posts out of which 181 are under gazetted category and remaining under non-gazetted category by corresponding adjustment of 2187 posts out of overall strength of Revenue and Relief Department, the spokesman said.
The Cabinet also approved the allotment of funds to the tune of Rs 63.22 crore for making these new units immediately operational, the spokesman said.
