Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Ghulam Ahmad Mir today met party president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi, and briefed them about the situation in the state.
"Mir had a threadbare discussion with Congress president and Vice president, during the meeting in Delhi, about the situation prevailing in the state," a spokesman of the PCC told PTI.
The spokesman said many issues concerning the people of Jammu and Kashmir were discussed by the party leaders.
"It was stressed that Congress should work hard for safeguarding age-old tradition of communal harmony in the state as the party has always strived for maintaining the secular fabric of the state," he said.
The central leadership urged Mir to take measures to "stop politics of exploitation by BJP-PDP regime," the spokesman added.
