The Jharkhand High Court on Friday rejected the bail petition of former MP R K Rana, who is serving prison term after being convicted in a fodder scam case pertaining to fraudulent withdrawal of money from Chaibasa treasury in the 1990s.

The bench of Apresh Kumar Singh rejected the bail petition moved by Rana after being convicted by a special CBI court in the fodder case.

In his bail petition, Rana contended that he had got bail in another fodder case also pertaining to Chaibasa treasury and that charges and witnesses are the same.

Therefore, bail be granted in this matter too, the petition said.

The CBI opposed the bail petition.
