The couple was travelling in separate coaches of a train to Ahmedabad in July last year in search of a job but the husband failed to find out his wife, who is illiterate, after reaching their destination, Superintendent of Police Dheeraj Kumar said.
The woman's father then lodged a police complaint that his son-in-law had murdered his daughter, following which he was arrested and put behind bars.
The woman was, however, traced in a woman's home in Ahmedabad and brought here two days back, Kumar said.
The SP said the police officer who had filed chargesheet against the innocent husband, Ravindra Mistri, for murder and hiding her body has been placed under suspension.
They are residents of Punesra village under Jayrampur police station of Sheikhpura district.
