Nearly 150 security personnel including three DSP-rank Punjab Police officers, one SP-rank officer, besides personnel drawn from the Government Railway Police (GRP) were thoroughly searching the Jammu-Delhi train at Pathankot, which is situated about 250 kms from here.
"There was a specific input passed on by the DGP of J&K Police to us after which we acted swiftly and started searching the train thoroughly. We are checking each and every bogie," Pathankot SSP Rakesh Kaushal told PTI over phone.
Army authorities too had been alerted about the checking, he said.
The passengers were asked to alight from the train, which had left Jammu at about 8 PM to reach Pathankot after 9:30 PM, travelling a distance of about 100 km.
Dog squad, bomb disposal squad and other equipment was pressed into service to check the presence of any explosive inside the train.
Jalandhar-based GRP DSP Gurnam Singh said the train would be thoroughly checked before being allowed to proceed for its onward journey.
