Lauding the Prime minister for his mega scheme 'Jan Dhan Yojana', Union Minister for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Kalraj Mishra today said it will strengthen the Indian economy and is a new beginning of an economic revolution in the country.
"Prime Minister's scheme 'Jan Dhan Yojana' will not just strengthen the Indian economy but is also a new beginning of an economic revolution in the country," he said at the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) here.
"This scheme will also help India to stand at par with the developed nations," he said, adding, "this scheme of the Prime Minister was not just an announcement on the Independence day but it was his government's commitment for the people."
Mishra, along with Union Bank of India Chairman and Managing Director Arun Tiwari, inaugurated the scheme in Varanasi district here.
"Those poor people who have been neglected from the banking facility from the last 68 years of our Independence will now fully utilise the benefits of various government-run schemes in the absence of any middleman.
"The account holders will even get an over draft facility and an Insurance cover of rupees one lac along with additional life insurance of Rs 30,000," Tiwari said.
Tiwari said UBI is also constructing toilet rooms in all the government run schools in the Poorvanchal (Eastern UP region) where this facility was either not available or was in poor condition and alone in around 61 government schools in Varanasi (a Loksabha constituency of PM Modi) UBI will construct toilet rooms as there is need for this.
UBI General Manager (Varanasi Zone) H K Behera was also present with other bank officials during the inauguration function.
