Jat agitation hits rail services

Several trains were cancelled by Railways in the wake of Jat agitation as protesting Jats blocked railway tracks at several places in Haryana as part of their protest in support of reservation under OBC category.
The two routes are the mainline Delhi-Ambala rail route which also leads to Amritsar, Chandigarh, Kalka and Jammu and on the Delhi-Rohtak-Jind route which provides connectivity to various destinations including Bhatinda, Ferozepur and Sri Ganganagar.
Trains which have been cancelled include Delhi-Pathankot Express, New Delhi -Ludhiana Shatabdi Express, Ajmer Chandigarh Garibrath Express, New Delhi Amritsar Express, Delhi Fazilka Express, New Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi, New Delhi-Kalka Shatabdi, New Delhi Vasihno Devi Katra, New Delhi Chandigarh Shatabdi, New Delhi-Hoshiarpur Express, New Delhi-Jammu Tawi Rajdhani Express, Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Jammu Tawi, railway authorities said.
Several passenger trains including Delhi-Panipat, Delhi-Kalka Passenger, New Delhi-Panipat Ladies Special, Ghaziabad-Panipat were also cancelled in the wake of Jat agitation.
Trains which were partially cancelled are Ferozpur-CST Mumbai Punjab Mail, Ferozepur-Mumbai Janta Express, Gorakhpur-Hissar Gorakhdham Express train will short terminated at Delhi, authorities said.
Other trains which are short terminated are Bandra-Amritsar Paschim Express at Sonipat, Kohuveli-Amritsar at Sonipat, Hazzor Sahib-Amritsar Sachkhand Express at Delhi, Bandra-Chandigarh at Nareila, Sahrasa-Amritsar Garib Rath at Delhi, Madgaon-Chandigarh Goa Sampark Kranti at Nizammuddin, Chandigarh-New Delhi Shatabdi at Panipat, they further said.
"Rail services at Hisar-Dhuri track were blocked at 12 noon today. Movement of trains at Delhi-Ambala track was also stopped at around 1 pm today because of the Jat protest in Haryana," Divisional Railway Manager, Ambala Division, Dinesh Kumar said today.
The Delhi-Amritsar track will also be affected because of the Jat protests, he said adding that protesters had blocked trains between Sonepat and Panipat.
"We are trying to divert trains via Saharanpur for Delhi. We will have to cancel some trains as we cannot divert all of them," he further said.
Delhi-Ambala-Amritsar is one of the busiest tracks in the northern region. Rail traffic to Jammu is also due to the blockade.
He said till yesterday, trains were only getting delayed in Ambala division because of Jat protest.
