Jayesh Patel remanded in judicial custody
Press Trust of India Vadodara A court here today remanded in judicial custody Jayesh Patel, founder of Parul University who was arrested in a rape case last week.
Police sought his further custody but the court rejected the demand.
A girl student of a nursing college attached to the private university had alleged that Patel raped her at the guest house on the campus some days ago.
Police produced him before Chief Judicial Magistrate A J Madbankar after his eight-day police custody ended today.
They sought further seven-day remand for conducting brain mapping and narco test.
Kaushik Bhatt, Patel's lawyer, opposed the plea arguing that the police had enough time to interrogate him.
Inspector General (Vadodara range) G S Malik said decision on moving a higher court for Patel's remand will be taken after studying the court's order.
