Jeev shoots even par as battle for British Masters gets close

Jeev Milkha Singh closed with two birdies on par-5s in the last four holes to log yet another even par 71 in the third round of the British Masters, presented by Sky Sports today.
The veteran Indian golfer, seemed to be looking for birdies and bogeys in pairs as he had four each of birdies and bogeys.
Jeev, who opened the week with atwo-under 69 and placed in low 20s, has since slipped to tied 55th.
"It was nice to come back with an even par round with two birdies in the closing four holes," said Jeev.
"I am feeling fitter and despite the small niggle (in the back), things are coming around. I had a couple of small mistakes which cost me the bogeys, but after a three-week rest post this event, I am looking at better finishes towards the end of the year," he added.

Meanwhile, things were getting rather tight and close at the top as Richard Bland, who has never won in 397 starts, was just one behind Alex Noren, the Hero Challenge finalist this week, and who has already won the Scottish Open and Omega European Masters this season.

Swede Noren has had a great week so far with just two bogeys, both in the space of three holes on first day, when he ended the day with an eagle. But on the second day, he was eight-under through 17 holes before double bogeying the ninth, his closing hole for the day.

Noren was 13-under with seven to play, who at one point was in sole lead, till he dropped a birdie on fourth, was 12-under, also with seven to play.
Five players -- Graeme McDowell, Peter Hanson, Richard Sterne, Bernd Wiesberger and Tommy Fleetwood -- were 11-under and had between five and seven holes to play, while two others Lee Westwood and Scott Jamieson were 10-under with five and seven holes respectively to play.
