The CID summoned Jessop owner Pawan Ruia in connection with the alleged theft and arson at the company's factory in Dum Dum, while eight more persons have been arrested for allegedly being involved in the incident.
"We have summoned him (Ruia) and asked him to appear before us on October 26. We have some specific questions to ask for which he will be the best person to answer," a senior CID officer told PTI.
The eight persons who have been arrested are, Bishal Jaiswal (27), Sumit Jaiswal (27), Samir Das (20), Babi Mallick (28), Rubel Khan (19), Nur Islam (19), Sanjib Sheikh (19) and Mithu Sheikh (24). A mini truck and three hexode blades were seized from them, the officer said.
Five persons were arrested last week for their link to the incident. Names of all these eight persons, arrested today, surfaced after questioning the five accused we had arrested earlier, the CID officer said.
A Special Investigating Team (SIT) was formed by the CID to probe the theft at the factory premises. Last Monday, a fire had broken out in the painting department of the vacant factory premises last Monday, the third such incident in two weeks.
Former workers of the factory alleged that the fire was part of a "conspiracy by a third party", following which the West Bengal government ordered a CID probe into the mishap.

The matter is likely to be moved before a vacation bench of the High Court on Wednesday, his counsel Bikash Bhattacharya said.
Reacting to the development, Ruia's spokesperson said, "Pawan Ruia is not the chairman. He is neither the director or a shareholder, or an occupier of Jessop and Co Ltd or any of its premises...
