JK Govt neglecting minority Hindus of Kashmir: JKVM

An organisation of Kashmiri Pandits, Jammu Kashmir Vichar Manch (JKVM) today accused the state government of acting in a "communal and partisan manner" and neglecting the plight of the minority Hindus of Kashmir.
"The state government has been acting in a communal and partisan manner in neglecting the plight of the minority Hindus of Kashmir," senior leader of JKVM Dr R L Bhat said in a statement here today.
He said the latest instance was volte-face on the temples and shrines bill.
"Both Omar and Farooq Abdullah had expressed publicly in support for the cause of preservation of the temple heritage of Kashmir and promised to pass the bill.

"None of the promises were kept. It is said that they roped in the MLAs of BJP to oppose the temples bill. Omar who had declared to bring an ordinance till the bill was passed was not even present in the house when the bill was presented," he alleged.
Bhat said we took a serious exception to the NC leaders touting their secularism after having failed every test to protect the minority Hindus of Kashmir.

He pointed out that beginning with their exile to their continued displacement and the protection of their temples and shrines, "Kashmir leadership has not shown any secular sensitivity towards the minority Hindus".

"Instead of providing succor to the people living as refugees in their own land, the solution of their problems including their return has been left to the mercy of the separatist leadership and agenda," he said.
The plain speaking on the plight of the minority Hindus of Kashmir by Narendra Modi has thrown light on the neglected KPs. This is the first articulation of the woes of the Hindu minority by a national leader, Dr Bhat said.
It shows that Modi is seized of the deprivation and sufferings of the minority Hindus of Kashmir. JKVM hopes that his utterances are not a mere poll-time rhetoric but come from a deeper sensitivity to the sufferings of the minority Hindus of Kashmir, which would arraign the state for its communal attitude.
