JK govt reviews rehabilitation plans for border dwellers

The Jammu and Kashmir government reviewed a detailed appraisal plan for people living along the Line of Control (LoC), even as forward posts in Poonch sector came under heavy cross-border firing for the third consecutive day today.

Jammu's Divisional Commissioner, Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, took note of the relief, rescue and rehabilitation plans devised by respective district administrations in view of the cross-border shelling, an official spokesman said in a statement here.

The meeting, chaired by Bhandari yesterday, also reviewed the security scenario in the region besides the status of key developmental projects.

"Bhandari reiterated the need for close coordination among all departments and agencies for ensuring prompt responses and safety of the people," the spokesman said.

The divisional commissioner also took a detailed review of key developmental works from deputy commissioners, wherein he impressed upon close monitoring of all developmental activities in the districts.

Inspector General of Police, Jammu, S D Singh Jamwal, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, senior officers of police, civil administration and armed forces were also present in the meeting.
